Dr. Jang like Dr. Wang was born in Korea. He moved to the US when he was 15 so he is fluent in Korean and English. Although the transition away from friends in Korea was challenging, Steve found comfort, strength and reassurance in his family. His parents both worked hard as immigrants so he was raised by his grandmother who became his mentor. She taught Steve the values of love and caring for others. As a young man, he witnessed the sacrifices that his parents had to make, both in terms of hard work and time away from family. So his choice in a career was molded by a belief that he wanted both to take care of others, but somehow be able to have quality family time. So he chose Dentistry.
Steve Graduated cum laude from Midwestern State University and attended the Dental School at University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio.* While many graduates go into practice immediately, Steve chose a Residency to further his clinical skills. He pursued an Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the VA in Temple TX.
“By going through residency, I had variety of experiences that I didn’t get to learn in dental school due to dentistry’s breadth and complexity. Cosmetic, full mouth rehabilitation, oral surgery, implant placement and restoration, IV sedation, oral sedation, and too many other things to list are just some of the things that I attained high proficiency in that Dental school only exposed me to. Residency at the VA not only taught me of advanced dentistry but also trained me with to properly provide the best and appropriate treatment plans where patients come first. Many of my friends entered a world where pressure cooker managed care dentistry compromised their training and patient care because of the pressures of financial performance.
I am so please to join Pinnacle where the standards of Dentistry are held to the highest esteem. Because Pinnacle is privately held and I am not subject to a treatment coordinator who prescribes treatment for patients with a bottom line view, I am free to continue best practices for Pinnacle’s patients. I look forward to realizing my personal goals of caring for others, excelling in patient care and service at Pinnacle Dental and in caring for my young family. I want to treat my patients like they are my family”
Dr. Jang is married to Jin, and recently had their first child Karsten. He is not a picky eater and loves Korean food, sushi, and BBQ. As he says “meats in general is a good thing”. Steve is an avid fisherman and enjoys the
outdoors, and traveling. He has a passion for young adults’ ministry and has been involved in local churches in that manner.

……. I am Chinese but was born in Korea. My grandparents moved to Korea from Shandong, China in an attempt to better their lives for their family. I grew up and spent my first eight years in Seoul, Korea so I speak some Korean. My parents’ desire to better our lives and to give us more opportunities brought us to Dallas. My parents were typical immigrants with language barriers and provided for us by opening and operating a restaurant. “When other children played or studied at night we delivered to-go orders, cleaned the restaurant and performed many other chores.”……
My Marathon Madness
……. My friend told me that if I train for the Marathon “YOU CAN EAT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT, AND ANYTHING YOU WANT, AND STILL LOSE WEIGHT!” I have always been trim and fit, but for anyone that knows me, I love to eat and consider myself a bit of a foodie. This was just too good to be true! I was already up to 5-6 miles a day, so what are a few more. Especially when I can eat with impunity! I agreed……..
Reflections of Teaching and Giving Back
……. In this same spirit of giving back, I jumped at the opportunity to teach and help 4th year Dental students at Baylor. The 4th year is the last year of Dental school and is mostly clinic based. But this time period is crucial in the transformation of these young Dentists from book smart students to skilled professionals. I wanted to be able to use my learning from my own rigorous residency program and 8 years of private practice to teach some of these young Dentists what they cannot possibly experience in Dental school…….. |
